why is my yahoo email account sending unexpected emails?

My Yahoo email account is automatically sending emails (without me sending them myself). The e-mails just contain http links and they are sent to random people in my address book.

Understandably some of the people in my address book are getting fed up.

  1. you have a Trojan or email virus

  2. At one time you received a email from someone that had a virus, they didn’t know it, it might have been a Forward chain email. It latched onto your contact list. Yahoo strongly suggests that you change your password immediately. Then do a virus/malware scan. It would be wise to notify your contacts that you didn’t send it to them and to not click the link in the message, it is a virus. I speak from experience. I received one from someone on my contact list, they didn’t send it, I thought they did and I clicked the link. Big mistake. There is nothing Yahoo can do about this, just change your password. Your contacts should do a virus scan also, although it might not show up until it’s too late.
