Yes it is a free country and people have the right to have different opinions. That being said, that man needs to respect the country he’s in and appreciate the land he’s living on. Since you are from a small community, I'm assuming you know this individual ... and since you are a veteran, I believe confronting him and understanding why he said what he did would be the best option if you could control your demeanor (no yelling, threatening, assaulting, etc). Honesty of your point of view with a calm demeanor would bring a greater sense of peace about the situation than would slanderous propaganda that will cost you money and a lot more of your time.
