How is this a violation? I appealed the violation, and denied, what other steps can I take?
Here is the the text of the email I sent to Yahoo regarding the violation, I don’t see how it violated the guidelines, and the customer rep wasn’t specific as to how I had violated.
Additional Information:
Deleted Question: Did you hear that McCain has pulled out of MI? Is this a sign that his campaign is fundamentally unsound?
I also posted a link to a politico.com article reporting that McCain was
withdrawing ad money from Michigan and cancelling appearances there. It was a genuine question regarding if his retreat in Michigan was a sign that he is losing ground in the election. I think that I was the target of a YA user who didn’t like the fact that I am an Obama supporter, and wanted to report me with the intentions of making the YA community a hostile environment for those who don’t share their political views.

That’s exactly why it was deleted. They disagree with you and report you. They do it with answers too. I don’t think appealing ever works either. They’ll probably get this question too.
I am so sorry. I too am having probs with yahoo accusing me of violating their TOS with something I added to my profile interests, yet it was something that Yahoo offers as a legitimate choice to select to add to interests, so I fail to understand. It sounds as tho they enforce the TOS depending on if they’ve had a beef with the spouse the nite before, or because they got a speeding ticket on the way to work and have to take it out on SOMEONE. I’d LOVE to show you what they’re accusing me of, but I’m sure they’d delete THAT too! I think we’ll both have to take it with sand in the vaseline…..
False reporting apparently is quite common as the Forum is full of complaints about it.
If you wish to appeal a second and final time you can do so via the link . Unfortunately, this link does not seem to be working. Yahoo! is aware of the problem as I brought it to their attention via the Forum about a week ago and they posted a reply to say that the problem would be referred to the Yahoo! Development Team.
Keep appealing, but also take a lesson from this. The first part of your post “Did you hear…?” is pure chat. Don’t ask questions of the individual users, especially if they can just be answered yes/no. The second part is better, but it is clear you are just making a statement and asking people to agree with it.
Try this. “What will be the potential political implications if the McCain campaign considers Michigan unwinnable?” This form can not be answered yes/no and you are asking for the implications, which will be facts, not just the opinion of the users on your opinion that you stated.
The best way to prevent violations is to not give people the material to make a case. It is too hard to get them reversed. You were in the gray area, not because of the subject matter, but the format in which you asked it. Ask it like a school question, not a chat room question.
Yeah, it’s obvious you were reported by a person(s) that didn’t agree with you. If you let your personal opinion known too much (esp. in a “hot button” category like Politics) in a question it could be considered a rant. Someone may have considered it more of a statement against McCain than a legitimate question. Yours is kind of in the gray zone. I would definitely appeal it. I personally don’t think you should have gotten a violation for it.
