What does “no attachments please” mean when sending email job applications?

I’m applying for a job, and this is what it says under the “How to apply” section:

Please send a cover letter and CV to [name of person] (no attachments please).

I’m confused as to what the “no attachments please” part means. Should I just paste both my cover letter and resume in the email message box then?
Please help; the deadline to apply is quickly approaching. Thanks!
