$52 million vs. $22 million? What does it mean?
There is a sense of elation in the Obama campaign as it was announced that their candidate raised $52 million in June. It’s a massive haul for the presumptive Democratic nominee — $3 million short of the historic mark he hit earlier in the cycle but much larger than the $22 million that John McCain brought in this past month.
The majority of donations, Obama’s campaign manager David Plouffe wrote in an email to supporters, were of the small variety, with the average amount being $68.
An aide to the Senator was ecstatic when asked about the June numbers and said of an earlier Wall Street Journal report that Obama had raised “only” around $30 million: the paper is “embarrassed.”

It’s one thing to do landline polls and try to guess which candidate is ahead, but when people are “voting” with their money by a two-to-one margin, what does that signify?

It means that people are tired of Bush policies and do not vote for John McCain.
Obama! . . .. . because he believes in:

Middle East money, mailed to thousands, broken up into small donations…not hard to figure out.
52 is more then 22…
you can crunch the numbers any way you want, and besides, when you have George Soros bankrolling your campaign, 52 million is chump change
I think McCain isn’t really generating excitement. He’s kind of the middle-ground for his party; whereas Obama is somebody people actually want.
It means more people support and gave money to Obama in June than gave to McBush!
It signifies that some people are beyond gullible.
It means many more millions
It represents a major structural change in American politics. The general electorate has been empowered, and this will change politics for generations.
It signifies that Obama’s campaign is the campaign of the people, and McCain’s campaign is the campaign of the special interests. Don’t let the Republicans fool you into thinking that this election is about anything else other than that. Do we want the special interests to continue running the government, or do we want to run it ourselves? That is what this election is about.
It signifies that dems are ready and willing to give up there money and republicans are not… that is all….
It means that we won’t choose a candidate because of his policies and beliefs. We’ll vote for a candidate because he can splash more useless rhetoric on TV, radio, magazines, and internet than the other candidate.
People are gullible.
My research shows that small donations have made up only 45% of the total of what Mr. Perfect has raised. They would have you believe based on the way they phrase their braying over how much they’ve raised that the vast majority of it has come from small donors.
Well, the majority of it has come from the usual suspects: corporations, Hollywood, Wall Street, unions, and let’s not forget the largest contributors of all to all Dem campaigns: the lovely tort lawyers. (For those of you not paying attention, tort lawyers are the cheeseballs who make a very good living suing anything that moves AND has money in its pockets.)
While it’s impressive how much he’s raised from small donors, it’s worthwhile remembering that this guy was, until a short while ago, Mr. Public Financing of Campaigns.
The inconvenient truth about Mr. Perfect is that he’s about one thing and one thing only: winning. Integrity? What’s that? Honesty? Puhleeezzzzeeee! Ethics? Well, he USED to talk about ethics; isn’t that good enough?!?
The Audacity of Audacity! ‘08
Sadly we’re in a society where having the most money signifies winning….until people can learn to become less dependent on material things and power….it will be business as usual
It signifies that George Soros is funneling a hefty portion of money into Obamas campaign..which is really no suprise–everyone knew that was happening..”private donations” wake up people!!
It proves that Forrest Gump’s mamma was right when she told him “Stupid is as Stupid DOES”
There are a couple of things going on and it’s not good news for Sen.McCain’s campaign. The average donation for Sen.Obama during this period is $68, which is a drop from around $100. This means that to raise so much more money in June than May, a lot more people donated to Obama in June. And, the finding in a recent USA Today/Gallup poll is confirmed by Obama’s June donations. That poll showed 61% of Democrats were enthusiastic about Obama, while only 35% of Republicans were enthusiastic about McCain.
